The Canberra Raiders have competed in the National Rugby League since 1982, and have won the premiership on three occasions. The late 1980s heralded a period of great success for the club, culminating in their triumphant 1989 season, which saw "The Green Machine" become the first non-Sydney side to claim a premiership.
